    Description

An original Civil War letter dated 1863. This letter was written by A. S. Tuttle who was in the 36th Massachusetts. In one area it looks like he says,........Yesterday I went to Fortress Monroe to see about having some Ambulances repaired..........I went round the Fort on the Ramparts it is one & a half miles round it there are over three hundred guns in the Fort...........There are two English Gun ships there which I dont think ought to be allowed one of them was fireing at a mark two miles off the....................              The letter is not signed at the end so I think this could be a partial letter.  I currently have another paper listed that belonged to this person.
The letter has wear and stain marks. The cover has wear.
